He is the Word

John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.”

The phrase “Word of God” means more than just printed words in a page. In this scripture, the Word is referred to as Jesus himself. One of His many names. Word can be translated from the Greek word logos, which can be thought of as the message from God to man.

Jesus embodied that whole message. He came to the Earth to die for our sins and therefore The written Word (the Bible) and Him as the Word contain God’s message as a whole.

So as you study the written Word, remember Jesus at the Word, too.

Welcome to day 2 of Advent: He is the Word

If you have the She Matters Journal, the Dig Deep section is the perfect tool to help you study the names of Jesus.

Read and write out John 1:1,14

What does this name reveal to you about Jesus?

How is Jesus the Word in your life?

Take a moment to write a prayer out over this verse.
